Visiting Grimaud in the Beautiful Côte d’Azur

One of the first things I noticed when visiting the charming village of Grimaud, were the candy sculptures by artist Laurence Jenkell. Their vibrant colours and fun design were a sharp contrast against the old buildings and cobbled streets of this pretty village.

Grimaud is an historic place to visit, with its pretty, quaint lanes, housing an array of wonderful architecture and design. Grimaud also plays host to regular events and festivals, so it’s worth having a look and seeing what’s on. Amongst other notable buildings, there are several beautiful churches to explore and admire, with one dating back to 1766.

We were lucky enough to watch a Christening and it was lovely to witness a local family community, gathered together for this special occasion.

The views from the old castle of the surrounding village and mediterranean are spectacular and visiting the castle itself is a must when exploring Grimaud. The castle ruins are an amazing sight, steeped in history and definitely not to be missed.

There are many sumptuous restaurants and ice-cream parlours to choose from whilst strolling around, most reasonably priced, offering a selection of mouth-watering cuisine. A personal favourite of mine are the moules frites, either a la creme, mariniere or provencale, which you can buy almost anywhere and are always accompanied with warm, rustic bread. I also like to accompany my moules frites with a chilled glass of sweet rosé wine. Delicious.

With the gorgeous atmosphere, vibrant art galleries and beautiful buildings, there are photo opportunities, literally, around every corner.

If you fancy visiting Port Grimaud, then this area is approximately four miles from Grimaud itself. With a selection of moored boats and quays lined with gardens and colourful houses, this is another great place to explore.
