It can sometimes be a bit of a challenge trying to think what to buy family and friends for their birthdays. I usually like to get them something that’s a little bit different or unique, something that isn’t too obvious, but yet something they would still absolutely love. Then I was thinking, what would I like as a gift, what would I like to receive. Something unique and luxurious, but perhaps something I wouldn’t usually think of buying for myself. Then I thought of the ideal gift. Chocolate Dipped Strawberries! They would make the perfect present. They’re luxurious, delicious, unique and they look absolutely stunning.
Buying chocolate dipped strawberries online can be very expensive, so a homemade alternative is a great idea. Not only are they made from the heart with love, they are also a lot cheaper too! Why pay more when your homemade versions look just as good as shop bought versions (well, near enough) and I’m sure your family and friends will appreciate the effort you’ve gone to, after all it’s the thought that counts.
There are also many different ways to present your finished strawberries and they look absolutely fabulous, lovingly displayed in a cute gift box, for that ultimate look. Who wouldn’t want to receive a lovely box of strawberries covered in chocolate.
Chocolate dipped strawberries also look fabulous if you’re hosting a dinner party or a summer garden party. They are so easy to make and are a great idea if you are short on time too.
Below are the list of ingredients and the method used. I didn’t follow a particular recipe, I just did my own thing, as these are fairly easy to make. You can also choose which chocolate and coverings to use, to suit your own personal taste.
Ingredients ~ makes about 22
Strawberries (with longer stems if possible) ~ I used 1 punnet
Milk chocolate chips ~ I used 1 small bag
White chocolate chips ~ I used 1 small bag
Brown and white sprinkles
- Wash strawberries and dry thoroughly, as the chocolate won’t stick if the strawberries are wet.
- Line a tray with non-stick baking paper.
- Put the milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl (you will need to heat each chocolate separately).
- Fill a pan with a couple of inches of water and bring to a simmer over a medium heat, then turn off the heat and place the bowl of chocolate over the water to melt. Stir until smooth and remove from the heat.
- Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip in the chocolate, twisting it around until it is 3/4 covered in chocolate. Lift out of the bowl, letting the excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
- Coat the strawberries in your choice of sprinkles, or drizzle with the other melted chocolate and place them onto the non-stick baking paper.
- Put the strawberries in the fridge for about 30 minutes, until the chocolate has set.
- Once set, remove strawberries from the baking paper and arrange to suit.
